our history

A Belgian success story since 1935

With more than 85 years of experience, it is impossible to imagine the world of plastic products without DBP today.

Wondering how it all began? Discover the rich history of our company below.

1935
Out of a passion for bicycles and strollers, friends Louis De Brucker and Francis Pluym started a mold shop in a garage in Antwerp. There they produced molds in Bakelite for telephones. Louis and Francis thus became the founders of DBP.
NYLON
1950
The world's first plastic bread box rolled off our production line. The somewhat modernized version of this bread box is still one of our bestsellers today.
POLYSTYREEN
1953
Production moves to the Dokter Van Raesstraat in Hoboken with new, revolutionary machines. Thanks to the evolution in chemistry and plastics, the technique of injection molding takes over and Bakelite molding disappears from production.
1960
In the 1960s, the torch is passed to the 2nd generation in the company. Louis De Brucker's children, Frans and Jos, take charge of the technical side and the production side. Along side Francis Pluym, daughter Liliane continues the commercial side.
1966
DBP has been producing the boxes for IJsboerke for some time. Thanks to the rise of frozen ice cream, DBP comes up with the idea of making storage boxes for the freezer. In 1966 the iconic white frozen box with blue lid makes its appearance in our assortment.

DBP moves to the Terbekehof industrial park in Wilrijk as its first company. Where it is still located today.
1980
Thanks to the innovative In Label Moulding technique, developed under the direction of Jos De Brucker, DBP is becoming the partner of choice for personalized plastic products.
1992
RE-USE
The Pluym family leaves the company, the De Brucker family takes over. The third generation of the De Brucker family also enters the business.
